Not much support but lots of opposition for a new Ann Arbor area Islamic school - AnnArbor.comAnd as usual there are the accusations of hate, bigotry and intolerance from the extremely intolerant (of anything they dislike) "progressives" of The People's Republic of Ann Arbor directed towards any opponents. As seen on the national level recently the progs draw accusations, insults and such like a thug draws a club or a switchblade in order to intimate any opposition and to put them on the defensive and draw them into an extended and off-topic defense of their reputations. Nice trick when it works.
Bottom line: If the Islamists have legal title to the property and follow all of the legal requirements for their school/Madrasas/community center then let 'em build it there. But the township government owes them no special favors in order to help it along. That's the policy Pittsfield Township followed for years with the likes of Meijers, Lowes, WalMart, Costco and numerous apartment and housing developments whether under Republican or Democratic controlled boards of supervisors. This case should be no different.
