"Daily existence is increasingly that of despair, depression, and derangement, punctuated by news of the latest serial murder spree or global eco-disaster, consumed as horrible entertainments in the emptiness." - John Zerzan

Sign of the times...cont'd.
I admire the city of Lansing's decision to hire a new police chief from the ranks of their own force. Three of the four finalists were Lansing PD veterans. Around here we'd hire an expensive headhunting outfit and detail a deputy city attorney or two and spend a couple hundred grand on a nationwide search. The new guy then has to come to town and learn the job and get to know the city. Lansing's version seems better and more cost effective to boot. A smart move by the city of Lansing.
