Attention media big-shots: You can put a show on cable but you can't make us watch it

Ex-Michigan governor Jenny Granholm has a temp talk show gig on Al Gore's Current TV channel now through November 2012 it has been announced.

"The premise [of her show]" says Detroit News columnist Laura Berman, "is that Granholm's inside knowledge of campaign strategy and communications will enable her to provide insights into the process — and the mayhem — that aren't easily understood from outside."

Whatever. As a hugely disappointing two-term Michigan governor and recent migrant to California I seriously doubt that Granholm has that much "insight" to offer viewers on national politics and I fully expect that the ratings she gets will reflect that. The Gore Channel must be really, truly, hard-up for media personalities if they're taking her on, even as a temp.

Wayne county government's swamp of corruption about to be drained?

It's starting to look that way. That festering boil of corruption is about to be lanced by the feds. Heh.

The Kwamster does some battlefield preparation

Disgraced ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick gives a mealy-mouthed self-serving interview to the Detroit News today that is full of non-apology apologies, half-truths, pleas for sympathy and barely concealed appeals to blacks for racial solidarity (i.e., Acquit me!). Look for him to mount a "whitey hates me" style of defense at his upcoming federal corruption trial.

Me personally I would be happy to see all of Kilpatrick's charges dropped (but not the restitution payments though) in exchange for him being required to  staying in Texas permanently and not visit Michigan for at least 10 years. Why? Because that fat, hairy, crooked, lying tumor on Michigan politics and society is better off removed than contained.

First UM night game ever @ Michigan stadium goes about as expected

According to the Detroit News today 20 people were ejected and 14 arrests were made for fighting, MIPs, disorderly conduct and such. That's a pretty typical night for a football Saturday in Ann Arbor. Only this time it around it was all inside the Big House and not on the streets or in the bars over in town and so the UM cops had to do most of the order keeping work. But minor as these distractions proved to be I don't know if the AD's office would want to schedule Ohio State or MSU for night games. That could go bad real fast. Nice pic of the cops breaking up a fight with pepper spray too.
