Ypsilanti income tax and Water Street millage lose by 2-1

Go figure? Tax paying voters, by a 2-1 margin,  just don't trust Ypsilanti city government not take this extra money and piss it away on other stupid shit as well. And with good reason too.

The Eastern Echo has a typical article addressing this topic that features pissing and moaning from local residents about their tires and wheels getting all bent up and then moves on to feature some typical bleats for more "revenue" from the usual suspects in order to fix it all. Funny these sort of articles are usually run in springtime.

Ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is scheduled to take his lame ass book-tour to my alma mater in a few days. Probably trying to raise a few more thou to pay for the legal team he is no doubt assembling for his upcoming federal corruption trials.

EMU has a "LGBT Resource Center"? Who knew?

This tidbit from the Eastern Echo caught my eye.

"Eastern Michigan University students, LGBT and otherwise, flocked to Big Bob’s Lakehouse Tuesday afternoon for the LGBT Resource Center’s fourth-annual welcome back BBQueer." 

Who knew EMU even had a LGBT Resource Center?  I wonder how much money they burn through on their picnics, outings, and what-all? Presumably taxpayer funded too.
