US Rep. John Conyers draws a serious primary opponent for the first time in decades (Susan J. Demas, MLive)
I don't know if Michigan State Senator Bert Johnson of Highland Park can pull off the upset but it sure would be nice to be rid of that tired, lazy, arrogant, out-of-touch old fart.
400,000 deported from US last year (Politico)
A good start but when you have 12,000,000 or so illegals ICE still has its work cut out for them. By my calculations that's about three percent of them.
"The dogs don't like it" (VDare)
"There's an old joke about a large multinational dog food company that comes out with a new dog food, approved by nutritionists, the sales and marketing staff, the CEO and the board, but which totally fails to sell. The simple explanation, from a lowly employee: 'The dogs don't like it!' "
The anecdote above is speaking of immigration reform here but the concept (as in "the dogs don't like it") sure fits the description of American politics right now. Say "woof!" if you agree.
"Daily existence is increasingly that of despair, depression, and derangement, punctuated by news of the latest serial murder spree or global eco-disaster, consumed as horrible entertainments in the emptiness." - John Zerzan

The cop, the beggar, the firemen, and the vet all meet on the side of the road in Detroit (Neal Rubin, Det News)
"The officer's name is on the citation. His initials are P.J. and his badge number is in the low 800s, and the department can find him if it cares to. The Office of Public Information didn't return a call, but what could a spokesman say? It's OK to shout amplified profanities at a harmless, armless citizen in a public place?"

Ex-Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez ripped to shreds by NYC sports writer (Phil Mushnick, NY Post)
"Big-time coaches who fall, regardless of why, are 'taken care of' by TV. They're hired as analysts, hired for their 'expertise,' though their expertise on exactly what it takes to succeed is left unspoken."
Detroit Neighborhood: U.S. Rep. John Conyers' home is an eyesore (Charlie LeDuff, WJBK-TV) video
Conyers has lived in D.C. since 1967. This dump is just a pro forma thing. Just sayin'.

Detroit's own U.S. Rep. John Conyers' son was caught driving dad's government issued SUV around town while night-clubbing recently. Pretty small beer, as scandals go, but still, John "Congressman for Life" Conyers is just such an ethical and legal mess. And like the rest of the criminal organization known as the Congressional Black Caucus John doesn't give a fuck about how he conducts himself in office since he knows he is never evah gonna lose an election. Maybe, maybe not. Ask Detroit's soon-to-be-ex-congresswoman U.S. Rep. Carolyn Cheeks-Kilpatrick about that little bit of conventional wisdom.

Annals of Democracy, cont'd.
U.S. Representative John Conyers of Michigan was recently photographed thumbing through a porn magazine while flying back from D.C. Some are outraged by this latest breach of decorum. I feel you folks but when I consider who he's married to and the fact that he's 81 years * old I give him a pass on how he gets his jollies. Conyers could be a little more discrete about it though.
(* Skip to about the five minute market to see ol' John nod off.)
