"Daily existence is increasingly that of despair, depression, and derangement, punctuated by news of the latest serial murder spree or global eco-disaster, consumed as horrible entertainments in the emptiness." - John Zerzan

A peon's life in the imperial capitol
Becky Akers tells us what it's like to live in Manhattan the home of the United Nations this week. Her screed reminds me of living in metro-Detroit back in 1992 when it seemed like Bill Clinton, Hilary Clinton, Al Gore, George H. W. Bush, Dan Quayle and Ross Perot were all coming here at least once a week each, with all that their visits entail.

Pissing off Ann Arbor's progressive types
One way is to patronize this website store that sells t-shirts with images of assorted international dictators mostly of the communist, socialist, and ethno-nationalist variety. It probably would piss off Ann Arbor progs even more if any of those nincompoops actually knew who Batista, Idi Amin, Franco, or Mussolini actually were, although some of the professors and grad students might. The famous dead commies though they'd likely recognize.
Unfortunately none of the shirts are offered with any of today's cohort of dictators likely due to copyright restrictions. It would be fun (albeit dangerous fun) to walk around the campus area of the People's Republic of Ann Arbor with a shirt that had realistic pictorial renderings of what Che, Mussolini, or Osama looked like after they met their end wouldn't it? Heh. (Hat tip to commenter TGGP @ the iSteve blog)
