"In effect, the cartels seek to create a `sanitary zone' inside the Texas border -- one county deep -- that will provide sanctuary from Mexican law enforcement and, at the same time, enable the cartels to transform Texas' border counties into narcotics transshipment points for continued transport into the continental United States," Scales tells Battleland. "To achieve their objectives, the cartels are relying increasingly on organized gangs to provide expendable and unaccountable manpower to do their dirty work. These gangs are recruited on the streets of Texas cities and inside Texas prisons by top-tier gangs who work in conjunction with the cartels."

Jackson child killer gets 23 to life (Danielle Salisbury, Jackson Citizen-Patriot)
It's worth the money we're all going to pay to keep this creep (AKA Ronald Woodard) locked up for all the decades he is going to serve just to be rid of him and to prevent any further violence on his part. It's a shame it took a death (rather than three previous felonies) to put him away. Good riddance.
MSC rules that school districts can't deduct teacher salary for political contributions (MLive)

See elections sometimes do have consequences. Unless you live in Wisconsin. Then the elections never end.

Retired AAPD detective Kinsey gives some good advice here. But ah...if you think about it you really shouldn't wander around late at night while tipsy and get in shouting matches with small groups of assholes in Ann Arbor or anywhere else for that matter either. Just sayin'.

But he's nabbed by two guys fishing who turned him over to the cops. They should let him stay. It takes a lot of dedication to swim in 60 water with just a backpack and a Speedo on. He must really want to be an American.

And freshman Democratic U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer is making an issue of this too. We have plenty of people who'd do that work right here already. While I doubt that Schauer's complaints will have much of impact before the election I have to wonder if he'd be bitching about it this loud were it not an election year? Somehow I doubt it. Schauer and the rest of the Dems usually see illegals as "undocumented Democrats" who need government help rather than Michigan job stealers. Except in election years of course.
